the celebration

We went for steamboat again this year for Alvin’s birthday~ This time we try another new place, 超强滚.  Food are served on kaiten belt, this is sth new for us. :)

Koh & the family. Each has their own pot so there’s no worries on finishing food taken by others, you just need to settle on your own, which is quite a good idea. People tend to take a lot and assuming others would finish up.  Quite a lot of choices but limited stock, which is not so satisfying.

AlvinJani again. ^^

No surprise present this year, bought this Wii as his birthday present like a month ago already. And seriously told me not to buy anything. :p  Honestly, this is really worth it, there’s a lot of fun and you’ll sweat!

Present from Koh & family, wireless remote. Thanks to them. :)

Best Pan Mee

2010
06.16

We had a feast of pan mee, which I think its the best of anywhere you can find. :p

The preparation is really troublesome. Sis’d prepare part of it before she goes for work in the morning and another big round of hassle after work in order to have us enjoying the best pan mee.

I don’t know how she made the mixture of flour, hehe. Only saw her preparing to cook them.

After the ‘pan mee’ (or mee hoon kuey) is cooked she’ll soak them in cold water too cool down. And transfer them to the soup prepared earlier. I’m already feeling its so troublesome with this process.

Here they call this vege ‘mani’ or rather ‘money’ vege. :p   I’ve never really like it, but in this case, I do. :)

The ingredients that you can take them all you like. These are only half as we’ve taken for one round already.

Both Alvin & I took second serving. :p  The pan mee is soft and tender. The soup is just nice.

The process is a real hassle, but the product is a real satisfaction. :D

holiday

06.14

Spent few days with ris in KL. Had her specially fried pasta as breakfast, very heavy but yummy yummy~ We tried out many food, just can’t share all here. :p

We had great satisfaction in Hot & Roll (in Mines). As we just wanna have tea break so we chose Paratha which is of smaller portion. Ris ordered beef pepperoni and I ordered Chicken Cheese n’ Onion.  They’re really heavenly tasted! We felt so satisfied after taking them. :)

Had lunch at Pappa Johns to try out new food in IOI Mall.  There’s only about 3 tables filled up and yet they still took over half and hour to serve our food. Starving! But the food was pretty nice. We had bread stick and cheese sticks as appetizers. The bread stick is actually empty but its very nice when you dip with the cheese provided.

The utensils used to serve both cheese stick and pizza are very unique, just like pingpong paddles.  Overall the food are nice. :)

Just very few photos of ris & jani. ^^  Had crazy time shopping and I bought quite a lot of stuffs within 3 days!

Zing Zing & Siong Hui came to pay a visit to Zing’s mom, and also grab the chance to meet up with old friends. :) Had a great time with them and one scary thing happened was that we were always, always full! Non stop eating, geeeeee

With Zing at V Cafe, a vegetarian restaurant in Sutera~

We had lots of food: nasi lemak, laksa, bakuteh, mini chao siu bao, fried G. Don’t ask me what’s G, I also don’t know. hehe.  The bread in V Cafe is very nice~

Brought them to Sutera Mall for a walk.   The new decoration is up!  Indicating the Glutinious Rice Dumpling festival is coming…

Setiawan Kompia

2010
06.07

Thanks to Koh & Lydia, we found the Setiawan Kompia in JB~!~ And its just in Tun Aminah, not so far from our place. :)   There’s only this pair of couple running the business and faithfully make the kompia in the very traditional way.

Uncle would wet the mixed flour and his hands with water and then paste them in the ‘oven’ himself. Man you know how hot is it?

It doesn’t mean he just need to wait for the kompia to be ready. He’ll be dealing with the charcoals at the bottom.

The special traditional tool used to ensure the wind is blown into oven evenly. The kompia are almost ready!

Another tough task… Taking them out. They’re HOT~~~~ So due to the lack of helpers and the traditional way of making, they have limited production everyday. Sometimes you’ll need to wait and you better book first. :)

Two types: onion and pork. I love the onion type, RM0.80 (left one, smaller) and Alvin love the pork kompia, RM1.30.  This is different from Sibu kompia, but also from FooChow, the Setiawan FooChow.

食客

2010
05.31

We tried a new Korean Restaurant in Tmn Sutera, called 食客.  As there’s 6 of us so we took the RM200 set. My, Korean food is really not cheap. But I’m deeply in love with kimchi~

There’s two set of BBQ utensils, served by two waitress. Vege is to be taken together with any food we like. Since its BBQ, you’ve got to have some vege to make it balance diet right. :)

The side dishes, and I’d always prefer kimchi~~ The left bottom pic is some jelly-like food, and the waitress told me its made of pork….? Hmm, but the taste was fine.

Two sets of side dishes, a lot eh? But not all are nice. :p

My favourite Kimchi Soup~~~ I thought it was really great, I can go back just for the soup itself. :)   There’s also seafood ramen, and Korean stone rice. :)

Right bottom pic is what we have for the BBQ. I think the beef is best of all. :)   There’s two ladies serving us in frying the food for us throughout the whole process so the food were nicely BBQed. :) But in the end we had too much of the meat and food which made us sick of BBQ food for quite some time. :p

The Reduced to Clear

2010
04.15

Always like to discover if there’s anything cheap on sale in Jusco. There’s corner particullary for items that are ‘reduced to clear’. Sometimes we’d try out something new if it looks attractive.  Normally price would be half of the original so that people would clear stock fast for them. :)

These are what we got from Jusco last night. Bought 14 bottles of them, but you can only see ten here, as we already gave 4 to Koh.  4 flavours in total, and the expiry date is june and july.  Still 2 months away. :)

Original price: RM3.70

Reduced price: RM0.50

Total spent: RM7.00

Isn’t it worth to buy? :D

Bonanza~

2010
04.14

Its the Bonanza again! Though we are not fancy at all with Sushi King’s sushi, but since its cheap so we’ll just go for it.

After long queue finally we were seated, starving~

We didn’t stuff ourselves as much as we could, only 13 plates then. :p  Just chose those we prefered. This time around the sushi served are much better than last year’s.

Tried the cheese ebiko the other day. Hmm… I think the original one tastes better. :D
